Group faults EFCC’S handling of graft cases

Urges Buhari to wade into Diezani, Dare N8b money laundering case

NIGER Delta Youth Council ( NDYC) has faulted the activities of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission ( EFCC) under Abdulrasheed Bawa, urging President Muhammadu Buhari to intervene and save the commission’s anti- corruption drive.

National Coordinator of the group, Israel Uwejeyan, stated in Kaduna, at the weekend, that Niger Delta youths had been observing the dimension the N8 billion money laundering case involving Zamfara State Peoples

Democratic Party ( PDP) governorship candidate, Dr. Dauda Dare, was assuming.

The statement reads: “We are deeply disturbed by the tactical exoneration of Dare from the N8 billion money laundering case instituted against our daughter, Diezani AllisonMadueke, by EFCC.

“It is a source of worry for Nigerians of good conscience that in a matter that Dare and Allison- Madueke were expected to answer charges, everything seems to have been swept under the carpet. The EFCC owes all Nigerians and

Buhari explanation as to why and how this case disappeared from public domain.”

It added that EFCC needed to explain to Nigerians how Dare eventually became emboldened to sue the Federal Government and the EFCC, demanding the refund of money allegedly laundered.

“It is strange that, today, while Allison- Madueke is still battling litigation by the EFCC on the same matter, Dare is moving around with all sense of confidence because he probably thinks he is above the law. He is even the PDP governorship flag- bearer in Zamfara.

“As a group, we frown on the involvement of the EFCC and consider this a pure case of selective justice against Allison- Madueke. On the other hand, we believe that Buhari, as a leader, who ‘ belongs to nobody and belongs to everybody’, will ensure justice is allowed to take its full course by way of re- prosecution, so that Dare will face the full weight of the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria,” they lamented.
