The strike took effect November 20.

The body took the decision at its Emergency General Meeting ( EGM) following the kidnap of two of her members, Dr. Joshua Omini and Dr. Ekpo Etim Egong on their way to the northern part of the state along the Okomita- Uyanga stretch of the Calabar Ikom Highway on November 18.

A statement, yesterday, signed by the state Chairman, Dr. Felix Archibong, and state Secretary, Dr. Etim Amaku, said the meeting resolved to activate the reviewed “Strike Protocol,” which provides for “a window of 48 hours by the chapter to request government to secure the unconditional release of our kidnapped members/ dependents, failing which we shall have no other option but to embark on a total and indefinite strike, pending their release.

“Following deliberations concerning the matter at hand, members unanimously agreed that the chapter proceeded on a total and indefinite strike, effective this evening, 20th November, 2022

“The strike is total and indefinite and any violation by any individual attracts a fine of N100,000.”
