Vote according to conscience, not party, Anglican Bishop urges Nigerians

- From Lawrence Njoku, Enugu

THE Anglican Bishop of Ogbaru Diocese, in Anambra State, Rt. Rev. Prosper Amah, yesterday, said Nigeria’s situation is precarious, advising citizens to vote according to their consciences, and not political party, in the 2023 general elections to save the nation from further drift.

Speaking in an interview, during the 2022 priestly ordination/ collation of Enugu Diocese, he stated that the Church must, as a matter of responsibility, encourage its members to come out massively and vote in the elections.

He lamented that the situation is made worse by the growing insecurity, stressing that the people can no longer move freely and do their legitimate businesses for fear of being kidnapped or killed.

Amah, added that the situation is compounded by growing poverty, explaining that many young people now engage in all manner of atrocities to make ends meet.
