CRUTECH students protest over incessant robbery, barricade school gate

THOUSANDSOF students of the Cross River University of Technology ( CRUTECH), yesterday, barricaded the main gate of the institution over incessant armed robbery attack on students. The protest prevented staff and visitors from entering the university as the angry students blocked the entrance.

A female student was attacked in one of recent three robberies within a month. One of the students who spoke said the purpose of the protest was to draw attention of the management of the institution to the ugly incidents.

He lamented: “This is not the first or second robbery incident but the third this month since we resumed, armed robbers have visited the female hostel thrice and nothing has been done to improve the security situation in the school.

“Rather than protect us, the policemen on campus prefer to ‘ chase’ us around campus,” he said.
