of Afe Babalola University Ado- Ekiti ( ABUAD), Aare Afe Babalola ( SAN), has condemned the removal of Gboyega Aribisogan as Speaker of Ekiti State House of Assembly.

He said that the action was illegal and against principles of fair- hearing.

The elder statesman, who spoke while reacting to the crisis in the Assembly during the third Afe Babalola distinguis­hed personalit­y lecture, yesterday, in Ado- Ekiti, the state capital, expressed regret over the violations of the principle of fair- hearing in the entire process by the political gladiators.

Chief Wole Olanipekun ( SAN), Dele Adesina ( SAN), Olu Daramola ( SAN), Femi Falana ( SAN), Dayo Akinlaja ( SAN) and Gboyega Oyewole ( SAN), who said the action was morally and legally unjustifie­d, insisted that Olubunmi Adelugba could not continue in office as Speaker.

The urged members of the Assembly to return to path of peace, honour and dignity by allowing Aribisogan to continue in office without let or hindrance.

another developmen­t, the Ekiti Election Petition Tribunal has adjourned judgment on the dispute arising from the governorsh­ip election held on June 18, 2022, in Ekiti State, which Governor Biodun Oyebanji was declared as the winner. t h e Independen­t National Electoral Commission ( INEC) has disclosed that an aggregate of 234,037 registered voters are yet to claim their Permanent Voter Cards in Ekiti State.
