Aderogba wins Inner Wheel school debate

SIXTEEN- year- old Senior Secondary School 3 of Isolo Secondary School, Isolo, Aderogba Adenike, has won an inter- school debate organised to commemorate the International Day of the Girl Child by Inner Wheel District 912.

At the event which involved seven schools, Oyeniyi Boluwafe of Isolo Comprehensive Senior High School emerged first runnerup, while Imoh Chidera Favour of Matori Senior Grammar School was second runner- up.

The seven students who participated in the debate got a sponsorship from District Chairman, Olushola Ashipa, to sit for the National Examination Council ( NECO) exams.

Ashipa said the event was organised to evaluate students approach to studies and encourage them.

“We were girls like them before we became ladies, mothers and grandmothers. We feel we should use this medium to encourage them that there is no limit to the height they can reach.

“We are appealing to the government to ensure safety of the girl child from every form of harassment. We have started a new thing by inculcating the idea into boys to uproot domestic violence,” she said. Guest Speaker and Presidentelect, Rotary Club of Isolo, Hajia Abimbola Oseni, enjoined students to key into the digital generation to be relevant.

“We are not there yet. We are being marginalised as female gender. We do not have the entire wherewithal to live in the digital world that we are in, as some of the girls do not have Internet at home and in school.”
