Oyo police arrest woman for stabbing husband to death
OState Police Command, yesterday, arrested Odunayo Olumale, a 27- year- old housewife for stabbing her husband, Olamilekan Salahudeen to death, over sexual demands.
The Guardian learnt the incident occurred three months after the couple reconciled and reunited following an earlier separation.
Parading the suspect at Oyo State Police Command headquarters in Eleyele, Ibadan, the spokesperson, Adewale Osifeso said preliminary investigation revealed that the deceased and his wife had returned to their home in the Oko- Oba neighbourhood of Oyo town on the day of the incident after a three- month separation.
Osifeso said: “On November 17, at about 0350hrs, one Ismaila Tijani, reported at Dubar Divisional Police headquarters that at about 0223hrs of November 16, his son, Olamilekan Salahudeen, 35 was stabbed to death with a knife by his wife, Odunayo. “The deceased made a move to have sexual intercourse with his wife, but was rejected, this further led to a struggle where the deceased collected and smashed his wife’s phone and in retaliation, the deceased was stabbed on the chest, leading to his death.
The suspect has since confessed to the crime and her unfortunate role in the incident, adding that she would be charged to court upon completion of the investigations.”
Osifeso added that the Command had also 25 suspects, including hoodlums, who specialised in burglary and warehouse looting, suspected armed robbers and suspected kidnappers.
