- By Sunday Aikulola

NATIONAL Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control ( NAFDAC) and members of the Coalition Against Counterfeit Pharmaceutical Product ( CACPP) have expressed concern over continued drug counterfeiting in the country, insisting effort in changing the narrative cannot be overemphasised.

Speaking at a stakeholder meeting in Lagos, yesterday, the members unanimously observed that perpetrators are devising new ways of promoting their illicit trade and that uncoordinated supply chains also aid counterfeiting.

The CACPP members include: CMC Connect, Nigerian Representatives of Overseas Manufacturers ( Niropharm), and Pharmaceutical Wholesalers and Distributors Association of Nigeria ( PWDAN).

Deputy Director, Investigation and Enforcement, NAFDAC, Uba Florence, noted that fake drugs and counterfeiting is a life and death issue. She said NAFDAC will not relent and stressed the need for more collaboration and partnerships.
