- From Lawrence Njoku, Enugu

THE traditional ruler of O b e a g u - U g w u a j i Autonomous Community in Enugu South Council, Enugu State, Igwe Christopher Ikenga, yesterday, dismissed allegations of land grabbing and intimidation leveled against him by some people from Ishiagu village in the area.

Okwudili Ani and Joe Onu, acting as officials of Ishiagu General Assembly, had petitioned Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, last week, accusing the monarch of selling ancestral lands and using security officials to perfect his actions and harass those opposed to him.

Reacting to the allegations, Ikenga, who stated that he was embarrassed by the development, said the petitioners were out to malign him and damage the reputation of his family and office.

He said there is no iota of truth in the allegations, stressing that all ancestral lands belonging to the six communities in Ugwuaji had long been demarcated and gazetted by the state government through the state boundary commission.
