Admiralty lawyers training key for maritime lawyers, says Chukwuka

- By Silver Nwokoro

THE President of the Admiralty Lawyers’ Society of Nigeria, Angus Obinna Chukwuka has emphasised the importance of training for maritime law practice.

According to Chukwuka, who reiterated that Nigeria’s great future lies within the blue economy explained that those looking to maximise their individual and corporate potentials ought to key in into the maritime realm through a deliberate intellectual investment or capacity.

The society in a statement by Chukwuka hinted that the training is its last capacity building training for the year 2022.

According to him, the training is very essential for lawyers seeking to cut their teeth in maritime practice.

He advised maritime companies and establishments to sponsor both their and non- lawyer staff to the training to boost their effectiveness and profitability. Private legal practitioners and individual stakeholders with sufficient proof of interest are welcome.

The chairman of the research and training faculty of the society, Professor Ibibia Worika, said that the course content is rich enough to ground one in the knowledge and practice of admiralty.

He stated that the training is not only for lawyers who are called to the Nigerian bar, but also for operations, administrative and technical staff of maritime establishments and companies.

The training has been slated for December 8, 2022 and December 9, 2022.
