Ekiti assures monarchs of adequate security

- From Ayodele Afolabi, Ado- Ekiti

THE Ekiti State government, yesterday, assured traditional rulers of adequate security for all residents before, during and after the Yuletide.

Some monarchs, including the Ologotun of OgotunEkiti, Oba Adebayo Adesanmi, in Ekiti South West Local Council of the state, had recently raised concern about the level of insecurity, especially in border communities.

But reacting to the development, Ekiti State Deputy Governor, Chief ( Mrs.) Monisade Afuye, said that insecurity would soon be a thing of the past, as the government was already on top of the ugly situation.

The deputy governor, who spoke in Ado- Ekiti, yesterday, during an interface with the Ekiti State Council of Traditional Rulers, added that the new administration would maintain high respect for traditional institution.

Afuye said that Governor Oyebanji was not oblivious of insecurity crises being experienced in some towns and villages, assuring that government will partner with them to ensure that all the noticeable threats abate.

She applauded Ekiti monarchs for maintaining neutrality during the last governorship election, saying this had further buoyed the respect and confidence reposed in them by the current government.
