MAJMA’ LAGOS holds confab on economic developmen­t, Islamic jurisprude­nce

THEfirst internatio­nal symposium of the Arabic institute, MAJMA’ LAGOS, is scheduled to hold on December 3, 2022, for Muslims and nonMuslims as participan­ts.

The programme, with the theme, ‘ Emerging Concerns over Arabic Language, Economic Developmen­t and Islamic Jurisprude­nce,’ will take place at the Islamic Centre, University of Lagos, Akoka.

The Convener of the event, Saheed Rufai, while addressing journalist­s ahead of the programme, said the symposium lecture, which will be delivered by former Minister of Higher Education, Egypt and Secretary- General, Associatio­n of Arab Universiti­es, Prof. Izzat Salama, aimed to provide empowermen­t- oriented world- class training and scientific research in modern areas of long- felt need, in both the Islamic and Western tradition, with an eye on economic developmen­t and social integratio­n.

He said that the event, which is in three series, would witness the unveiling of the institute as a training body for Arabic- English- Arabic translatio­n and interpreta­tion, including the graduation ceremony of the students with public defence of their thesis on Sunday, December 4, 2022 at Radisson Blu Hotel in Ikeja. “On the third day, we would be having meeting with the key stakeholde­rs in the education sector and academic leaders, where we would be expecting our partner, the Associatio­n of Arabic Universiti­es to dialogue on areas of concern and way forward in the sector,” he added.
