MAJMA’ LAGOS holds confab on economic development, Islamic jurisprudence
THEfirst international symposium of the Arabic institute, MAJMA’ LAGOS, is scheduled to hold on December 3, 2022, for Muslims and nonMuslims as participants.
The programme, with the theme, ‘ Emerging Concerns over Arabic Language, Economic Development and Islamic Jurisprudence,’ will take place at the Islamic Centre, University of Lagos, Akoka.
The Convener of the event, Saheed Rufai, while addressing journalists ahead of the programme, said the symposium lecture, which will be delivered by former Minister of Higher Education, Egypt and Secretary- General, Association of Arab Universities, Prof. Izzat Salama, aimed to provide empowerment- oriented world- class training and scientific research in modern areas of long- felt need, in both the Islamic and Western tradition, with an eye on economic development and social integration.
He said that the event, which is in three series, would witness the unveiling of the institute as a training body for Arabic- English- Arabic translation and interpretation, including the graduation ceremony of the students with public defence of their thesis on Sunday, December 4, 2022 at Radisson Blu Hotel in Ikeja. “On the third day, we would be having meeting with the key stakeholders in the education sector and academic leaders, where we would be expecting our partner, the Association of Arabic Universities to dialogue on areas of concern and way forward in the sector,” he added.
