Otti correlates Easter, Abia stories as Otu canvasses togetherness

- From Gordi Udeajah, Umuahia

ABIA State governor- elect, Dr. Alex Otti, has said he sees a correlation between the story of Easter and that of Abia.

In his Easter message to Abia people, he stated: “The 2023 Easter is particularly special for me because it is the Easter following our victory at the March 18 polls where our people spoke eloquently and gallantly with their votes. Just like our Lord, Jesus Christ, conquered death and rose from the dead, Abia, by the grace of God, has defeated her enemies and has risen from the stranglehold of underdevelopment, deprivation and poverty to prosperity and transformation.” He thanked God for the privilege to share the good news of the Resurrection with Abia people and other Nigerians.

“Even when the evil forces that had held the state down in the last 24 years rose once again to steal our victory, God, in his infinite mercy, said no, and literally stood against them. After four days, the Independent National Electoral Commission ( INEC) subsequently declared us winner of the election.

“I use the opportunity of this Easter to reiterate that we will not disappoint you on the promises that we made to you earlier. My team and I are committed to the task of rebuilding our dear state, so she can take her place of pride in the comity of progressive states in Nigeria and truly assume her appellation as God’s Own State,” he said.

HIS Cross River State counterpart, Sen. Bassey Otu, has urged Cross Riverians to see the celebration as a moment of sober reflection and supplication for the state and the country at large.

In his Easter message, the governor- elect noted that Easter, believed to be the foundation of Christian faith commemorating the resurrection of Jesus Christ, renews hope in mankind.
