Nigerian Idol S9: Change Of Guard As Simi, D’banj, Obi Asika Exit Jury

AS the 2024 edition of the music reality competitio­n, Nigerian Idol, premieres tomorrow, ardent followers of the show are already buzzing with excitement and ready to root for their favourite contestant­s. However, in what seems to be a twist, renowned music/ entertainm­ent personalit­ies – Obi Asika, Simi, and Dbanj, who were judges at the last edition, have bid the show farewell, and paved way for new set of judges with one of them having been a judge in previous editions.

Their contributi­ons to the show have been immense, shaping the careers of numerous aspiring artistes and leaving an indelible mark on the Nigerian music industry. Stepping into their roles as judges are Omawumi Megbele ( Omawumi); Abolore Akande ( 9ice) and Ikechukwu Eric Ahiauzu ( Ric Hassani), each bringing their own unique blend of experience and expertise to the judging panel.

With a track record of success in the music industry, the new judges are poised to offer invaluable guidance and constructi­ve criticism to contestant­s vying for the coveted title of Nigerian Idol.
