THERE was controversy between the two wives of Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, yesterday, over who to officially welcome Nigeria's First Lady, Olufemi Tinubu, to the state today.

Adeleke's two wives, Ngozi and Titilola, had since the emergence of their husband as governor of the state been laying claim to the Office of the First Lady of the state.

The two women updated their social media pages with "First Lady of Osun State" and have been silently battling for relevance in the administration of Governor Adeleke.

The struggle to outshine each other came to the fore, yesterday when different printed posters hit the social media space with the names and pictures of Ngozi and Titilola welcoming Oluremi Tinubu to the state.

Tinubu is billed to be in Osogbo, the state capital today for the turning of the sod of the Alternative High School For Girls at Oke D. O, Ilesha Road.

A poster, which has the picture of Ngozi Adeleke, has the inscription, "Welcome to the state of Living Spring. Experience the beauty of Osun State's landscape." The viral poster is signed off as the First Lady of Osun State. Titilola Adeleke, in her separate poster, also welcomed Tinubu to the "official turning of the sod ceremony of the Alternative High School for Girls at Oke D. O, Ilesha Road, Osogbo." She also signed off as the First Lady of Osun State.

Meanwhile, Governor Adeleke has swiftly intervened by identifying who the First Lady of Osun is, saying that the flier that purportedly emanated from Ngozi Adeleke is fake.

The governor, in a statement by his spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed, recognised Titilola Adeleke as the ' Osun State First Lady' while he described Ngozi Adeleke as the ' Wife of the Governor.'

Adeleke, while stating that the person who allegedly issued the fake flier had been arrested and interrogated, said: "The said flier was never authorised by Erelu Ngozi Adeleke. The material was manufactured and shared by elements that wanted to sow discord and create an atmosphere of confusion.

"The attention of the governor has been drawn to fake news in circulation about conflict over who among the governor's two wives is to host the First Lady of Nigeria, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, on her official visit to the state tomorrow.

"For clarification, Titilola Adeleke, the First Lady of Osun State, is officially hosting the First Lady tomorrow in line with the directive of the governor. There is no confusion on this position.”
