- From Ernest Nzor, Abuja

THE Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Musa, yesterday, emphasised the necessity of a united Nigeria to confront bandits and terrorism in the nation.

Musa made the remarks at the second edition of the Unity School Old Students Association ( USOSA) held at the Moshood Abiola National Stadium, Package B, Abuja. He stated: “Through this carnival, we realise that we are all one; we are all Nigerians and we all love Nigeria. Nigeria has given us so much during our time in unity schools, and that is what we aim to highlight.

“Nigeria is facing challenges, so we require unity to confront all the issues we are encountering. This event provides a great opportunity and we all recognise how sports can unite us, teaching discipline, resilience and the ability to persevere through failures.

“In life, when faced with failure, we must rise and move forward, and that is the message we aim to convey. Nigerians must unite to combat the threats we are facing.

“Many individuals do not appreciate the blessings our country enjoy, and it is imperative that we work together to overcome these challenges and continue progressing as a nation.”

In his remarks, President General of USOSA, Michael Magaji, revealed that over 50 unity schools were represented at the carnival.

His words: “We can witness Nigerians from all parts of the country coming together here to promote teamwork, excellence and unity through sports, which aids in managing and understanding our diversity.

“This event marks a significant milestone in the 50 to 69- year history of unity schools, which were established not only to provide quality education but also to foster nation- building and integration in Nigeria.”
