JAMB releases 2024

2024 WASSCE begins April 30

JOINT Admissions and Matriculat­ion Board ( JAMB) has released the 2024 Unified Tertiary Matriculat­ion Examinatio­n ( UTME) results of 1,842,464 candidates out of 1.98 million that registered for the test.

In another developmen­t, the West African Examinatio­ns Council ( WAEC) has announced April 30 to June 24, 2024 as the date for the West African Senior School Certificat­e Examinatio­n ( WASSCE) for school candidates.

JAMB Registrar, Prof. Ishaq Oloyede, at a briefing, yesterday, in Abuja, said 64,624 results were under investigat­ion; 2,896 for reasons of verificati­on, 4,594 for procedural investigat­ion of candidates, 57,056 for centre- based investigat­ion in 18 centres and 78 for alleged misconduct.

He stated that 8,401 ( 0.5 per cent) scored 300 and above, adding that candidates could start checking their results from today ( Tuesday) by 7.00 am.

HOloyede added that 77,070 ( 4.2 per cent) polled 250 and above, 439,974 ( 24 per cent) had 200 and above, and 1,402,490 ( 76 per cent) scored below 200.

The 2024 UTME, which started on Friday, April 19, 2024, ended on Monday, April 29, 2024. EAD of Nigeria National Office, WAEC, Dr Amos Dangut, told journalist­s at the council’s office in Lagos, yesterday, that the examinatio­n would span seven weeks and six days.

While affirming the council’s preparedne­ss to administer the examinatio­n, Dangut said the test would be conducted in Nigeria, Gambia, Sierra Leone and Liberia.

He added, “We are set for the conduct of WASSCE for school candidates in 2024. The council also, in collaborat­ion with the Federal Ministry of Education, state ministries of education, the Nigeria police, other security agencies and stakeholde­rs would deliver on its mandate to conduct credible examinatio­ns for the Nigerian child.”
