New Censors Board DG, Husseini, promises 48- hour content approval

DIRECTOR General of the National Film and Video Censors Board ( NFVCB), Dr Shaibu Husseini, has promised that before the end of this month, the board will kick start a process of approving vetted film and other related contents within six and 48 hours.

Husseini disclosed the plan when he paid a courtesy visit to The Guardian Newspaper, saying that content producer would start and complete the process of approval for their content from the comfort of their homes and offices.

He said the visit was homecoming for him because it was The Guardian platform that made him to be known in the film industry.

The DG stated that he assumed office at the NFVCB in March, 2024, meeting a board that was receptive to change and as a newspaper critic of the sector; he was ready to walk the talk of taking the sector to greater height with the introducti­on of innovation­s in content approval

He said that was why The Guardian Newspaper was the first media house he would visit since assuming office, adding that he was passionate about making changes in the sector just as The Guardian had groomed him for the task.

He also said other plans about changing the narrative included educating the audience about content as there was a lot of illiteracy about contents.

Responding, the Chief Executive Officer of The

Guardian Newspaper, Mr Toke Alex- Ibru, commended the new DG for visiting the flagship, saying the media house would be willing to provide the needed support for him to achieve his plans and aspiration­s.

On hand to receive the DG were the Editor of The Guardian, Dr Femi Adekoya; Weekend Editor of The Guardian, Dr Kabir Alabi Garba; Deputy Editor, The Guardian, Greg Nwakunor; Managing Editor, Chinedu Uwaegbulam.
