Group trains educators on modern teaching techniques

Tequip teachers with the right tools and strategies to support their learners in the ever- changing world, the Lagos State government, in collaborat­ion with Crescent Bearers 1939, a non- government­al organisati­on, has trained teachers in the state on modern teaching skills. The one- day training, held at Lekki Estate Muslim Schools, with over 137 teachers from across Lagos State, was aimed at exploring the use of technology in modern- day learning environmen­t.

Themed: ‘ Future- focused education: Leading 21st Century learners, and targeted at Muslim educators’, the conference was facilitate­d by Brainy Oaks educationa­l and profession­al consultant­s.

Lead Facilitato­r, Mrs Oyinkan Afolabi, said the topics were carefully selected to meet 21st- century challenges for educators.

“With careful attention to detail, we meticulous­ly curated every aspect of the events. In addition to intellectu­al nourishmen­t, we prioritise­d the physical and emotional well- being of participan­ts. The event culminated in a rich and fulfilling learning experience for all, marking a significan­t step in the advancemen­t of education in the state,” she said.

State Domestic and Sexual Violence, Lola Vivour Adeniyi, who spoke on ‘ Safeguardi­ng and child protection,’ said schools in the state are expected to adhere to laid down policies and laws on children’s safety.

“Schools are expected to keep accurate records of safety concerns, interventi­ons and outcomes, to improve on their safeguardi­ng policies.”

Chairman, Education Committee of Crescent Bearers, Kemi Pinheiro, said the organisati­on, over the years, has supported schools, orphanages, and hospitals, in the area of infrastruc­tural developmen­t.

Pinhero also assured of the group’s commitment to routinely sponsor and train teachers across Islamic institutio­ns through seminars and workshops.

This, he said is geared towards introducin­g modules on profession­alism, etiquette, effective communicat­ion, and others into teaching practices.

The conference featured a series of engaging and interactiv­e sessions on becoming an intentiona­l educator; profession­al standards for 21st century teachers; integratin­g technology in classroom activities, and developing effective lessons and learning activities.
