‘ Delta fills four, lags in 200- slot army recruitment quota’

• Don’t join, IPOB warns South- East youths

-

ABRIGADIER General from the Army Headquarters in Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory ( FCT), Wilto Nzidee, has said that Delta State is seriously lagging in filling up its recruitment quota in the Nigerian Army.

It was gathered that the state was allocated 200 slots in the ongoing 87th Regular Recruitment intake for nontradesmen and tradesmen, as well as women into the Nigerian Army.

Nzidee noted that only four persons had so far registered since the online registration began on May 4.

The army chief, who is the Team Lead of the SouthSouth Recruitment Exercise, made the statement when his team visited the Secretary to the Delta State Government ( SSG), Kingsley Emu, in his office at Asaba, the state capital.

He said that the state was lagging in the exercise when compared to other states that already had more than a hundred applicants for the recruitment.

MEANWHILE, the Indigenous People of Biafra ( IPOB) has called on Nigerian youths from the SouthEast region “not to join the recruitment exercise currently being advertised by the Nigeria Army. ”

In a statement by its Media and Publicity Secretary on Thursday, Emma Powerful, IPOB said it would amount to foolishness for any Nigerian youth to join the army, alleging that it has depleted.

The self- determination group, therefore, cautioned South- East youths not to join the recruitment exercise, adding that, “It will be foolish for any sane Nigerian youth, particularly Biafran youth, to sacrifice his or her life.”

Stating its reasons, IPOB alleged: “The terrorists are seeking to create their own Islamic State in the North. These terrorists declared war on the Nigerian government and its soldiers. They have successfully depleted the Nigerian military’s manpower.
