Soludo's pipe- borne water and sustainable development goals

-

SIR: The infrastructure of infrastructures is ordinarily the primary infrastructure that secondary infrastructures would not suffice without. Pipe- borne water is one of the infrastructures of infrastructures, the prime category of infrastructures without which life would not be meaningful and total well being assured. Indeed, water is so categorical and existentially important that it is on the same pedestal with the superstructures like religion, morality and politics in exuding supremacy over other essentials of life. It is an essential element for man’s consumption and livelihood, for food, cleanliness, sanitation, public health and industrial economy.

One of the superstructures and infrastructures in place now in every nooks and corner in Anambra today is pipe borne water, courtesy of the livable homeland revolution of Governor Charles Chukwuma Soludo administration.

Beyond the rhetorics of Sustainable Development Goals of the United Nations in many states of the federation the governor has prioritised pipe- borne water for the general well beings of Anambrarians for public health, hygiene awareness, clean water sources and prevention of spread of contagious diseases.

The administration is in partnership with local councils’ authorities in transmitting filtered water from the filtration plants to households and strategic bus stops in the municipalities and suburbs. Some of the strategic pipes contain as many as five pumps services for the people of the area with surveillance maintenance teams on patrols within and outside the urban areas. Better quality water for bathing and washing is more valuable than many dams. Even as home appliances, such as hot water services and washing machines, are generally extended from sources such as Soludo’s pipe- borne water instead of relying on rainwater tanks or water tanks. It provides improved water quality that’s not exposed to contaminants en- route or through surface runoff as well as guarantying access to stored water for fire- fighting

The Anambra State Ago- business ventures has received unprecedented superstructural support and sustainability from this sustained water availability. The coco- nut revolution in Anambra State is one of the beneficiaries of the water development goals. The invaluable services water renders to effectiveness of herbicides and chemicals for cropping and harvesting cannot be questioned. Even in the area of diversification of farming operations and development water is invaluable.
