Ila-orangun group lauds Buhari, Osun governor, others over siting of varsity


ASOCIO- cultural and philanthro­pic associatio­n, Isedopeju Renewal Associatio­n, Ila-orangun, under the chairmansh­ip of Dr. Adebisi Pius Ademola, has lauded individual­s, who worked assiduousl­y to ensure that the specialise­d University of Health, Nutrition and Medical Sciences recently approved by the Federal Government to Osun State is sited in the ancient town of Ila-orangun.

The associatio­n’s publicity secretary, Mr. Yinka Ayanleye, stated this at a news conference in Lagos at the weekend at the associatio­n’s Liaison office after the virtual executive meeting of i associatio­n.

Ayanleye said: “The associatio­n wishes to thank the president and Commander-inchief of the armed forces of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, President Muhammadu Buhari, the Minister of Education, Alhaji Adamu Adamu, His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Osun State, Alhaji Isiaka Gboyega Oyetola, the father of all, the former Osun State Governor, former Interim chairman of All Progressiv­es Congress (APC) and the Asiwaju of Ila-orangun, Chief Adebisi Akande and the APC National Leader, Asiwaju

Bola Ahmed Tinubu, for their concerted efforts in making the long held yearning of the community for a public owned university a reality.”

He said the associatio­n also thanked the former Senator representi­ng Osun Central, Prof. Sola Adeyeye, the current senator representi­ng the same central senatorial district, Bashir Ajibola and the honourable House of Representa­tives member representi­ng Ila/boluwaduro/ Ifedayo Federal constituen­cy, Olufemi Fakeye “for working very hard with Chief Akande, the moving spirit of the university, in birthing this unique citadel of learning in Nigeria nay the continent of Africa”.

“For this surprise gesture, the associatio­n would join in mobilising Ila-orangun community to support the management, staff and students of the university in all ramificati­ons immediatel­y the university takes off this session,” he said.

The university, Ayanleye assured, would enjoy the best of Ila people’s hospitalit­y as well as an uncommon “town and gown” relationsh­ip.

The associatio­n also congratula­ted the Ila Traditiona­l Council and Orangun Ile Ila, Oba Abdul Wahab Oyedotun, during whose reign the feat has been recorded.
