Ila-orangun group lauds Buhari, Osun governor, others over siting of varsity
ASOCIO- cultural and philanthropic association, Isedopeju Renewal Association, Ila-orangun, under the chairmanship of Dr. Adebisi Pius Ademola, has lauded individuals, who worked assiduously to ensure that the specialised University of Health, Nutrition and Medical Sciences recently approved by the Federal Government to Osun State is sited in the ancient town of Ila-orangun.
The association’s publicity secretary, Mr. Yinka Ayanleye, stated this at a news conference in Lagos at the weekend at the association’s Liaison office after the virtual executive meeting of i association.
Ayanleye said: “The association wishes to thank the president and Commander-inchief of the armed forces of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, President Muhammadu Buhari, the Minister of Education, Alhaji Adamu Adamu, His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Osun State, Alhaji Isiaka Gboyega Oyetola, the father of all, the former Osun State Governor, former Interim chairman of All Progressives Congress (APC) and the Asiwaju of Ila-orangun, Chief Adebisi Akande and the APC National Leader, Asiwaju
Bola Ahmed Tinubu, for their concerted efforts in making the long held yearning of the community for a public owned university a reality.”
He said the association also thanked the former Senator representing Osun Central, Prof. Sola Adeyeye, the current senator representing the same central senatorial district, Bashir Ajibola and the honourable House of Representatives member representing Ila/boluwaduro/ Ifedayo Federal constituency, Olufemi Fakeye “for working very hard with Chief Akande, the moving spirit of the university, in birthing this unique citadel of learning in Nigeria nay the continent of Africa”.
“For this surprise gesture, the association would join in mobilising Ila-orangun community to support the management, staff and students of the university in all ramifications immediately the university takes off this session,” he said.
The university, Ayanleye assured, would enjoy the best of Ila people’s hospitality as well as an uncommon “town and gown” relationship.
The association also congratulated the Ila Traditional Council and Orangun Ile Ila, Oba Abdul Wahab Oyedotun, during whose reign the feat has been recorded.
