Edo lifts Adegoke with $10,000

THE Deputy-governor of Edo State Philip Shaibu has sent forth the state’s representa­tive to the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games Enoch Adegoke with the compliment­s of the government and people of the state.

Shaibu said as much during a meeting held at the Government House in Benin and joined online by Adegoke along with former captain of Team Nigeria Yussuf Alli as well as other stakeholde­rs in the athletics family. He later announced a grant of $10,000 to meet Adegoke ‘s personal needs towards the Tokyo 2020 Olympics and his well-being thereafter.

“The government and good people of Edo State are wishing you well; I am positive that Tokyo 2020 will be the springboar­d you need to achieve greater things in life, the sky is your limit,”

Shaibu said . “It is the duty of the Governor, myself, Edo State and Nigeria to continue to support you to achieve your dream. I urged you to continue with the commitment and the hard work you have shown at the Edo 2020 National Sports Festival, we pray that God will crown your efforts with success.

“We pray that you come with a medal. We realize that in the build to the games, during and after you will have some needs and we don’t want those needs to distract you, that is why the government is giving you $10,000 to meet these needs, when you come back there will be a special Edo Package to celebrate you.”

NFF rolls out magazine

THE Nigeria Football Federation(nff)has launched a quarterly magazine that will detail the events, activities and programmes of the Federation, the various National Teams and other key aspects of Nigeria Football.

The magazine is packaged by Peachtree Communicat­ions, headed by foremost Nigeria football writer and editor of several decades, Gboyega Okegbenro, with NFF’S Director of Communicat­ions, Ademola Olajire as editor. Mr Mohammed Ameenu, special assistant to the General Secretary, is assistant editor.

General Secretary of the Federation, Dr Mohammed Sanusi, who as head of administra­tion is the editor-in-chief of the publicatio­n to be known as NFF News , said the all-colour magazine will document for posterity the activities, events and programmes of the Nff,capturinga­ndfreezing­intime texts and photos on major footballin­g issues and actions for generation­s to come.

“It will be distribute­d to several interests, concerns and institutio­ns within and outside the football family, within Nigeria and internatio­nally,” he said.
