Iver Plate took on boca Ju­niors in the Copa Lib­er­ta­dores fi­nal on Satur­day and one Ar­gen­tinian cou­ple have marked the mon­u­men­tal show­down in a rather unique way – nam­ing their new-born af­ter one of the fi­nal­ists,

re­ports. baby river Plate was wel­comed into the world be­fore the kick-off against boca Ju­niors and river’s fa­ther nahuel ed­uardo be­jarano said, “I asked my wife if she would give me the pos­si­bil­ity to call him river and as her sur­name is Plate, ev­ery­thing would match. She said yes and that we would see later on. As time went by, that idea was as­serted.”

The baby was born on oc­to­ber 16, in Pi­nama, a town in the buenos Aires prov­ince, and was regis­tered as Agustin enzo river Plate be­jer­ano.

“At the be­gin­ning he was go­ing to be called enzo as the main name be­cause of the prince (for­mer Uruguay and river Plate star enzo Francescoli) who is my idol,” nahuel be­jer­ano said.

Asked if his wife, Ana Sofia, is a River Plate fan, be­jer­ano jok­ingly said, “She sym­pa­thises (with river). now she has to adopt it be­cause at home it’s all about river. We wake up with river, we go to bed with river.”

“I hope we can en­joy this unique show,” be­jer­ano said. “I hope we have the pos­si­bil­ity to ex­pe­ri­ence (a Lib­er­ta­dores fi­nal) again in the fu­ture.”

The re­turn leg of the Copa Lib­er­ta­dores fi­nal holds at the mon­u­men­tal on no­vem­ber 24.
