We’re set to break monopoly of Lagos as entertainment capital –Maryam Abdul
t goes without saying that Lagos State, Nigeria’s commercial capital, is the hub of the entertainment and fashion industry in the country. However, a foremost fashion house in Abuja, Mima Midas Designs, is out to break the Lagos–abuja dichotomy as it is set to host its maiden fashion runway and exhibition in the federal capital city.
In a chat with the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Mima Midas, Mrs. Maryam Abdul, said the fashion house was a one-stop shop for male and female wear including kids’ outfits.
According to her, the fashion house also has an institute where designers and crafters are trained with the organisation’s state-ofthe-art facilities.
She said, “We try as much as possible to be creative and give the best to our clients and that was why we coined our motto, ‘be impossible not to be noticed’. When you put on our outfit, you should be able to wow the audience or guests at whatever event you attend. In our school, we have been doing wonderfully well as our students and their parents can attest to that because they are very creative and can conveniently, within three months, make clothing that can stand out within and outside the country.”
Speaking further, Abdul said the first edition of Mima Midas Design’s fashion exhibition, runway and release of its 2019 collections, tagged ‘limitless’, would take place on December 2 at the NAF Conference Centre, Abuja. “We want to prove a point that major events can also hold in Abuja; it doesn’t always have to be in Lagos. It may not be an easy task but it is something we can achieve,” she stated.
