Un­law­ful as­sem­bly: Court grants bail to six youths

THE Ijede Mag­is­trates’ Court in the Iko­rodu Mag­is­te­rial District, has granted bail in the sum of N100,000 each to six youths ac­cused of un­law­ful as­sem­bly to per­pe­trate crime at the Owuikosi area of La­gos State.

The pre­sid­ing mag­is­trate, Mrs A. Os­hodi-makanju, asked the ac­cused to pro­vide two sureties each, who must be gain­fully em­ployed and show ev­i­dence of tax pay­ment.

She added that one of the sureties must be a fam­ily mem­ber of each of the sus­pects.

The six ac­cused per­sons were ar­raigned on six counts of con­spir­acy to com­mit felony to wit armed rob­bery; mem­ber­ship of an un­law­ful so­ci­ety; at­tend­ing the meet­ing of an un­law­ful so­ci­ety;andgath­er­ing­toat­ten­dan un­law­fu­lassem­bly,amon­gothers.

The ac­cused per­sons, Em­manuel Tobi, 26; Korode On­a­banjo, 29; Akinyemi Tim­i­leyin, 29; Razaq Sodimu, 27; Osiyemi Ojo, 23; and Adeoye Ade­sanya, 24, were ar­raigned by the po­lice.

The charges read in part, “That you, Em­manuel Tobi, 26; Korode On­a­banjo, 29; Akinyemi Tim­i­leyin, 29; Razaq Sodimu, 27; Osiyemi Ojo, 23; and Adeoye Ade­sanya, 24, all of Owu-ikosi, La­gos State, and oth­ers at large on De­cem­ber 4, 2018, around 12:05am in the Iko­rodu Mag­is­te­rial District, did con­spire to com­mit felony, to wit; armed rob­bery, thereby com­mit­ting an of­fence con­trary to and pun­ish­able un­der Sec­tion 299 of the Crim­i­nal Law of La­gos State, 2015.

“That you, Em­manuel Tobi, 26; Korode On­a­banjo, 29; Akinyemi Tim­i­leyin, 29; Razaq Sodimu, 27; Osiyemi Ojo, 23; and Adeoye Ade­sanya, 24, all of Owu-ikosi, La­gos State, on the same date, time and place in the afore­men­tioned mag­is­te­rial district, did gather your­selves to at­tend a meet­ing of an un­law­ful so­ci­ety known to be Aye Con­fra­ter­nity, thereby com­mit­ting an of­fence pun­ish­able un­der Sec­tion 43 (1) of the Crim­i­nal Law of La­gos State, 2015.”

The pros­e­cu­tor, Isaac Aminu, said the sus­pects were ar­rested fol­low­ing a tip-off about an un­law­ful as­sem­bly to com­mit crime.

He added that the po­lice also seized sub­stances sus­pected to be In­dian hemp from the sus­pects
