The Federal Government has promised to provide an enabling environment for the private sector to assist states to upgrade their medical stores to international standards.

The Minister of health, Prof. Isaac Adewole, made this known while receiving a report of warehouse assessments done by the Warehouse Visibility and Governance Project, carried out in conjunction with the Pharmaceutical Council of Nigeria.

In a statement made available by the Special Assistant, Communication and Strategy to the Minister of health, Kazeem Akintunde, the assessment was done with support from the Africa Resource Centre and involved medical stores in 31 states across the country.

Adewole said that states willing to upgrade their medical stores would be linked to donor agencies but that they must show commitment to the project.
