Abiodun urges Ijebu monarchs to access govt programmes
GOVERNOR Dapo Abiodun of Ogun State has appealed to traditional rulers and community leaders in the Ogun East Senatorial District not to undermine the various intervention efforts of the government.
The governor lamented that statistics at his disposal revealed that the people of the zone were not accessing the various gestures of government targeted at making life meaningful for them.
Abiodun, who was represented by the Secretary to Ogun State Government, Mr Tokunbo Talabi, stated this at the grand finale of Awa-ijebu Day Celebration in Awa-ijebu, in the Ijebu North Local Government Area of the state.
He called on the people in the area not to see government efforts as mere lip service, but urged them to endeavour to be a part of the all-inclusive disposition of the government in the state aimed at enhancing their standard of living.
He said, “From reports at our disposal, we observed that people of the zone were not really inclined with the various efforts of the present administration aimed at giving them a new lease of life.
“I appeal to Kabiyesi and other community heads in the zone to spread the good news for the benefit of the people.”
The governor, while congratulating the monarch and the people of the state for witnessing the 19th edition of the annual celebration, commended the Limeri of Awa-ijebu, Oba Abib Awobajo, for his commitment towards the growth and development and the peaceful co-existence in the area.
He promised that the state administration would continue to provide workable support to complement the community’s set goals and objectives.
Meanwhile, Abiodun has said the 2020 budget was prepared to block leakages and systemic corruption within the civil bureaucracy and governance process.
The governor said his administration had put in place institutional frameworks to checkmate efforts at perpetuating financial malfeasances that might compromise due process.
The governor said this on Monday when he played host to the Transparency and Accountability Network and other civil society groups at the governor’s office in commemoration of the International Anti-corruption Day.
