Firm launches online platform on produce
THE Chief Executive Officer of Yanfunyanfun.com, an online platform that aggregates farm produces and food products from every part of Nigeria, Adams Makarios, has urged farmers to partner with them for support of large-scale farming.
Makarios said this at the platform launch on Saturday in Lagos.
He said, “The platform provides an efficient technology-driven system for farmers and indigenous manufacturers to gather, promote, distribute farm produce and food products. And access to get their products to consumers from different parts of the world in real time.”
Makarios also said he considered the level of education of some of the farmers as most of them could neither read nor write.
He said, “We start from the basics to the complex by attending to a farmer who doesn’t know how to use a mobile phone to the one who knows how to use a phone that is internet enabled. We made the platform so easy that it can support farmers that don’t know about technology to the one who does. That is why we have the USSD functions and call me back functions to enable the farmer to get across to us.
“We also take into consideration that we don’t have preservation facilities in Nigeria and most perishable farm produces may become spoilt before getting to the consumer; which is why our platform addresses issues from the consumer to the retailer, to the manufacturer to the aggregator and back to the farmer. It is a full circle support system that gets everybody involved. Products that are perishable will get to consumers who are ondemand but when there is large scale request, then we will be able to reach consumers as they make their demand.
“We also offer food subscription service whereby consumers get to subscribe for food the way they subscribe for pay TV or payphones. And it could be a weekly or a monthly subscription with different packages of fresh farm produces.”
