Kwara assembly bars visitors from premises
THE Kwara State House of Assembly on Wednesday barred visitors from going into the premises of the assembly.
The PUNCH gathered that the assembly took the action following the protest staged by members of the state chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party at the gate of the assembly over non-swearing in of its candidate, Agboola Abdulraheem, representing Ilorin South Constituency who was returned by the Court of Appeal.
Security operatives manning the gate of the assembly turned back all visitors on the instructions of the Speaker, Yakubu Danladi.
Our correspondent who was one of the visitors to the assembly was told by security men numbering about 10, comprising of policemen and officials of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps that they had instructions that no visitors should be allowed into the premises.
“We cannot allow you to enter the premises of the assembly. We are under instruction that no visitor should be allowed into the assembly,” one of the security men told our correspondent.
When a telephone call was put through to the Director of Information in the Assembly, Mr Ayobami Akanbi, he said the action of the security men was as a result of what happened in the assembly on Tuesday.
