As the festive period approaches, the Ogun Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Corps has advised motorists to avoid speeding to avoid accidents.

TRACE advised motorists to strictly adhere to the specified speed limit to stay alive.

A TRACE commander, Mrs Temitope Oseni, stated this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria on Friday.

Oseni said the advice had become necessary in order to avoid accidents that could lead to unnecessary loss of lives and property during the festive period.

“I want to urge all motorists to comply with the stipulated speed limit and avoid driving in a direction prohibited by road traffic laws.

“They should also fasten their seat belts to reduce fatality rate in case of an accident,” she said.

The commander implored motorists to increase their level of concentration and shun drunkdriving that might endanger their lives and those of other road users.

Oseni added any erring driver would be penalised and also asked pedestrians to be careful while walking on the road, especially while crossing busy highways.
