The Lagos State Government said it had paid over N93m to the families of deceased workers in the state.

The state Commissioner for Finance, Rabiu Olowo, while presenting the insurance death benefit to the beneficiaries, noted that the least paid beneficiary would receive N776,166.64.

Olowo urged the beneficiaries to make good use of the money, adding that the state would continue to prioritise the welfare of its workforce.

he said, “This event shows the magnanimity disposition of the state. As the government is committed to the payment of the monthly salaries of its active workforce, it is also remitting pensions of its officers on a monthly basis.

“The state government also provided insurance cover for its staff so that workers who died in service would be duly compensated through their various beneficiaries and next- of-kins.”

The Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Finance, Ganiat Raji, the state government, urged the beneficiaries to invest the money in their children’s education and other profitable ventures.
