AN Ogba magistrate court in Lagos has sentenced a passenger to two weeks imprisonment with an option of N200, 000 fine for smoking onboard an Air Peace aircraft.

Air Peace said on Tuesday that the passenger was caught on its flight P4 7558 from Sharjah to Lagos on December 11.

The airline said in a statement signed by its Corporate Communications Executive, Stanley Olisa, that the passenger whose name was not given, was accosted by a flight attendant.

“The flight attendant noticed the passenger’s prohibited act while doing his routine safety checks,” the airline said.

Air Peace said the flying public should make it an obligation to comply with all established global flight safety standards.

It added that such measures were for passengers’ well-being.
