BATN bags top employer award
THE British American Tobacco Nigeria has been officially recognised as a top employer in Nigeria by the Top Employers Institute for the year 2020.
The recognition was given to the tobacco company at a certification dinner held in Johannesburg, South Africa, on November 21, 2019, a statement from BATN indicated on Tuesday.
Top Employers Institute CEO, David Plink, while congratulating the company on the award, said, “To become recognised as a top employer, an organisation will have to prove that the implementation of their people strategies enriches the world of work of their employees.
“The certified participants are a shining example of dedication to people practices as they continuously commit to empowering their employees for a better world of work.”
The institute also noted that organisations certified as top employers dedicated themselves to providing the very best working environment for employees through their progressive people-first human resource practices.
While acknowledging the recognition, Human Resources Director, West Africa Area, BATN, Temitope Akinsanya, remarked, “It is a real privilege to be selected among the top three countries in Africa for such a prestigious award.
“It demonstrates pride we have in heritage, the drive the our to outperform and deliver despite uncertainties, and the ability to strike a balance between work and life.”
Speaking further, Akinsanya said, “This award clearly demonstrates our adherence to international best practices and excellence. It is also a reflection of our resilience and commitment to the welfare and overall development of our employees, which makes BATN a great place to work in.”
According to the statement, the Top Employers Institute, which was established more than 28 years ago, is the global authority on recognising excellence in people practices and accelerating these practices to enrich the
world of work.
The statement read in part, “The Top Employers Institute certification programme is a rigorous process through which a participating company can be validated, certified and recognised as an employer of choice.
“It has certified and recognised more than 1,500 top employers, in more than 118 countries/regions across five continents, who positively impact the lives of over six million employees globally,” it added.
