Gombe con­sti­tutes min­i­mum wage ne­go­ti­a­tion panel

GOV­ER­NOR Inuwa Ya­haya of Gombe State on Tues­day set up a 15-man com­mit­tee to ne­go­ti­ate the N30,000 min­i­mum wage and the con­se­quen­tial ad­just­ments.

The state Deputy Gov­er­nor, Dr Manas­sah Jatau, is to serve as the chair­man of the ne­go­ti­a­tion com­mit­tee.

A memo is­sued by the state’s Head of Civil Ser­vice, Al­haji Bap­payo Ya­haya, in­di­cated that the com­mit­tee was man­dated to look into the pos­si­bil­ity of the im­ple­men­ta­tion of the N30,000 min­i­mum wage “as it affects the core civil ser­vants and oth­ers in the state.”

It is also to de­ter­mine the con­se­quen­tial ad­just­ments for core civil ser­vants at Grade Level 07 to17 and oth­ers.

Mem­bers of the com­mit­tee in­clude the Com­mis­sioner for Lo­cal Gov­ern­ments and Chief­taincy Af­fairs; Al­haji Ibrahim Jalo; his Fi­nance coun­ter­part, Mo­hammed Ma­g­aji; Spe­cial Ad­viser to the Gov­er­nor on Bud­get, Plan­ning and Devel­op­ment Part­ners Co­or­di­na­tion, Dr Ishi­aku Mo­hammed; Di­rec­tor Gen­eral, Bureau of Pub­lic Ser­vice Re­form, Yusuf Kal­tungo; and the state’s So­lic­i­tor-gen­eral, Zainab Rasheed.

Oth­ers are the state Au­di­tor-gen­eral, Muham­mad Buba; Au­di­tor Gen­eral for Lo­cal Gov­ern­ment, Aliyu Mele; Per­ma­nent Sec­re­tary, Es­tab­lish­ment and Ser­vice Mat­ters De­part­ment, Mo­hammed Jib­ril; and the state’s Ac­coun­tant-gen­eral, Umar Bello.
