More than 100 coaches from five countries participated ina two-day World Taek won do approved certification course in Abuja.

The course attracted attendees from Cameroon, Togo, Ghana, Mali and the host nation.

Maxwell Alornyo, who coaches the Ghana national team, praised the impact of the event in Nigeria’s capital and said it included more topics than participants had expected.

Anti-doping and ethics were among the issues discussed during the course.

“When we came, we thought we were going to learn about Taekwondo only, but the table of contents has gone beyond what we expected,” Alornyo said.

“We have learnt how to bring up the kids and also learnt about the effect drugs have on the athletes, as well as the ethics of the game and not only how to raise champions.

“I believe that when we go back and put all that we have learnt to practice, it would help us perform better internationally.”

Nigerian Blessing Nwakanma hoped the course would help her develop as a coach.
