Arsenal contact Napoli over Koulibaly

The Punch - - SPORTS -

It’s Christmas Day and with football fans across the UK exchanging and opening gifts, Arsenal will be looking forward to the start of January and their first chance to buy players under Mikel Arteta.

The new head coach of the Gunners will be able to make new signings and sell any individuals who are surplus to requirements once the January transfer window is open.

Premier League clubs will be battling it out for the top talent

across the world and supporters drawn to the Emirates Stadium will be expecting deals to be done.

Arteta replaced Unai Emery as head coach earlier in December and attentions have turned to who is he likely to bring in to help with their challenge to seal a return to the Champions League in 2020.

Emery bought a number of new faces in during the summer, including the club record signing of forward Nicolas Pepe, Kieran Tierney, David Luiz, Gabriel Martinelli, William Saliba and Dani Ceballos.

However, with Arsenal currently finding themselves way off the pace for a top four finish.

But, as with any transfer window, there is also the risk of losing players as other clubs look to strengthen their team for the end of season running.
