‘Entrepreneurship programme’ll reduce unemployment’
RECTOR of the Federal Polytechnic, Offa, Kwara State, Dr Lateef Olatunji, has advised new students of the institution to make the best use of their stay by participating in the entrepreneurship development programmes of the school.
he added that the programmes would go a long way to reduce unemployment among fresh graduates.
Olatunji gave the advice on Friday at the matriculation of 6,646 students admitted into the institution for the 2019/2020 academic session.
he said, “In line with the Federal Government directive to drastically reduce unemployment and ensure self employment among graduates, the management has provided a well equipped Entrepreneurship Centre to train students in all kinds of small scale production like shoe making, batik, fashion designing, soap making, Cake baking and other confectioneries.
“The Department of Mechanical Engineering
recently collaborated with the Entrepreneurship Development Centre and Poly Consult to launch an automobile centre where you can train in diagnosis and repair of engines, steam washing, tyre inflation, car servicing and so on.
“Furthermore, the polytechnic library is a store house of knowledge equipped with e-learning materials and relevant books, journals, publications, magazines, reviews etc which will enhance your learning. Feel free to visit the library for your assignment, research and other academic endeavours.”
