The Punch - - NEWS - Maiharaji Altine, Gusau

Apolice officer has been arrested by the Zamfara State hisbah Commission for allegedly having fun with three girls in a hotel room.

Parading the suspect before newsmen on Tuesday in his office, the commission’s Chairman, Dr Atiku Balarabe, said the officer who was attached to the Central Police Station in Gusau was trailed and arrested by his men, following a report they received about the activities of the police officer.

Atiku said, “The police officer was caught with three girls who are not his wives in a single room at the hotel committing social vices which are against the Sharia Law”.

He claimed the police officer was caught red-handed in a situation that he ( the policeman) could not deny, adding that he would soon be charged to court to face the wrath of the law.

“We have already arrested the manager of the hotel and we will arraign him before the court so that he could also be punished according to Islamic law as he is aiding and abetting adultery”.

He said the police officer, the three girls and the manager of the hotel would be charged to court of competent jurisdiction as soon as investigations were completed for possible prosecution in the court of law.

he maintained that in this kind of case, nobody should be spared, saying, “The hisbah man signed an accord to deal decisively with any action contrary to the Islamic laws”.

Efforts made by our reporter to get the name of the officer failed because neither the commission nor the victim was willing to cooperate.
