AS part of his vision to make Ilaji Hotels and Sports Resort the cornerstone of entertainment in oyo State, the Chief executive officer, Chief Dotun Sanusi, hosted another A-list Fuji artist, King Saheed osupa, on New Year Day at the multi-billion naira hospitality complex.

The hosting of the musician held exactly a week after Adewale Ayuba had performed at the resort.

Fans of osupa had started trouping to the main-bowl of resort, the venue of the New Year gig, with a view to watching the live performance of the Ibadan-born Fuji musician.

It was an electrifying moment when osupa breezed into the stadium and headed straight into the podium to begin his first live show of the New Year.

After the show, the host, Chief Sanusi, reiterated his commitment towards making Ibadan the hub of entertainment in Nigeria, just as it was in the past.

He declared that the downturn of the economy had negatively affected the hospitality business and entertainment industry in the country.

He said that with determination on the part of government and corporate bodies, entertainment would thrive once again.

“Like I always say, I will keep supporting any effort aimed at taking our youths off crime. Just as you have seen for yourself, majority of the people who came for the show are energetic youths. During the period they have been here, they have been well behaved. It is now left for patriotic citizens, those who are concerned about the future of this country, to come to the aid of these youths by packaging programmes of this nature.

“I can say it without fear or favour that most of these youths, who indulge in criminal activities, would have been responsible citizens if they had been engaged meaningfully. But, our inability to channel their energy into organised efforts is one of the factors that is responsible for the surge in criminal activities in the country”, Sanusi added.

He urged corporate bodies and wealthy individuals to compliment the efforts of government towards the reformation of erring youths. The event was anchored by the duo of talented broadcasters, Abdurasaq Abduganeey, popularly known as Mr GRA and Funmilayo Ilesanmi, a.k.a Irawo ede.
