NDLEA ar­rests 127 sus­pects, con­victs 34 in Adamawa

the Na­tional Drug Law en­force­ment Agency in Adamawa state says it ar­rested 127 of­fend­ers, with 34 con­victed in 2019, the News Agency of

Nige­ria re­ports.

Ac­cord­ing to the com­man­der of the body in the state, Al­haji idris Bello in Yola on satur­day, the sus­pects were 125 males and two fe­males, while the 34 con­victs were all males aged be­tween 18-50.

Bello said, “in the year un­der re­view, a to­tal of 605.555kg of as­sorted drugs were seized by the com­mand.

“the seized items in­cluded cannabis (313.342kg) and psy­chotropic sub­stances (292.213 kg).

“the com­mand also made first-time, ex­cep­tional seizure of five car­tons of Pen­ta­zocine in­jec­tions which weighed 21kg.

“the com­mand, in its ef­forts to tackle the trend of drug abuse, also or­gan­ised 40 Drug Abuse pre­ven­tive ed­u­ca­tion lec­tures in its com­mu­nity out­reach pro­grammes across the state.’’
