The Managing Director and Chief executive of the Nigeria Social Insurance Trust Fund, Adebayo Somefun, on Sunday said that the fund spent about N825m to rehabilitate injured workers in 2019.

In a message signed by Somefun to staff of the NSITF, he said the money was more than what was paid in previous years.

he added that contribution generated to the scheme in 2019 was the highest since it began in 2011.

he said the increased contribution helped the management to deploy considerable sums in investment in accordance with the prescription of the

Employees’ Compensation

Act 2010.

Somefun stated that NSITF was able to combine efforts and resources of relevant stakeholders for the prevention of workplace accidents.

According to him, the efforts include the enforcement of Occupational Safety and health standards.
