Serve hu­man­ity, Obaseki tells nurses

EDO State Gov­er­nor God­win Obaseki on Wednesday urged nurses to serve hu­man­ity with ded­i­ca­tion to save lives.

Obaseki spoke at a sen­si­ti­sa­tion event as part of the ac­tiv­i­ties to mark the 2020 In­ter­na­tional Nurses’ Day in Benin.

The gov­er­nor, who was rep­re­sented by the state Com­mis­sioner for Health, Pa­trick Okun­dia, promised that his ad­min­is­tra­tion would con­tinue to pro­mote the wel­fare of nurses and other health care pro­fes­sion­als.

He said, “Qual­ity health care can­not be achieved without skilled health care pro­fes­sion­als such as nurses. This ad­min­is­tra­tion will con­tinue to pro­mote the wel­fare of nurses and other health care pro­fes­sion­als.”

Di­rec­tor of Nurs­ing Ser­vices, Edo State, Mrs Enun­waonye Alex, said, “This pro­gramme is solely or­gan­ised by nurses is to in­form the gen­eral pub­lic that nurses are cham­pi­oning good health care sys­tem. They should eat nour­ished food, use in­sec­ti­cide treated bed nets.”

The Chair­man, Na­tional As­so­ci­a­tion of Nurses and Mid­wives, Edo State Coun­cil, Cather­ine Eseine, urged the peo­ple not to pa­tro­n­ise quacks.
