Navy inaugurates new girls’ hostel in Calabar
THE Flag Officer Commanding the Eastern Naval Command, Rear Admiral David Adeniran, has commissioned an ultramodern girls hostel at the Nigerian Navy Secondary School in the Akpabuyo Local Government Area of Cross River State.
The hostel, which will accommodate 240 pupils, was commissioned Tuesday along with quarter guard, 15,000 litre capacity water project, laying of the foundation for a 200 capacity boys’ hostel.
Speaking at the event,
Rear Admiral Adeniran said, “Today is our combined school management committee meeting and we have used this opportunity to commission some projects in this particular school. The projects are remodelled girls’ hostel, remodelled quarter guard, and the foundation laying ceremony for the new boys’ hostel.
“We observed fault in the girls’ hostel so the place had to be evacuated. The repair work has been completed. Now the girls can move back. And that means that there will be a higher level of comfort for the students. Also the boys hostel, when completed, there will be more comfort for the pupils. The girls hostel is going to accommodate 240 girls.”
Asked his expectations from the students after such huge investment in the school, Adeniran said, “they know why they are here. The only way they can appreciate our efforts is to ensure that they do well in their studies and also imbibe the character we hope to impart in them so that the school will be better and the nation will be better.”
