Navy in­au­gu­rates new girls’ hos­tel in Cal­abar

THE Flag Of­fi­cer Com­mand­ing the East­ern Naval Com­mand, Rear Ad­mi­ral David Adeni­ran, has com­mis­sioned an ul­tra­mod­ern girls hos­tel at the Nige­rian Navy Se­condary School in the Ak­pabuyo Lo­cal Gov­ern­ment Area of Cross River State.

The hos­tel, which will ac­com­mo­date 240 pupils, was com­mis­sioned Tues­day along with quar­ter guard, 15,000 litre ca­pac­ity wa­ter project, lay­ing of the foun­da­tion for a 200 ca­pac­ity boys’ hos­tel.

Speak­ing at the event,

Rear Ad­mi­ral Adeni­ran said, “To­day is our com­bined school man­age­ment com­mit­tee meet­ing and we have used this op­por­tu­nity to com­mis­sion some projects in this par­tic­u­lar school. The projects are re­mod­elled girls’ hos­tel, re­mod­elled quar­ter guard, and the foun­da­tion lay­ing cer­e­mony for the new boys’ hos­tel.

“We ob­served fault in the girls’ hos­tel so the place had to be evac­u­ated. The re­pair work has been com­pleted. Now the girls can move back. And that means that there will be a higher level of com­fort for the stu­dents. Also the boys hos­tel, when com­pleted, there will be more com­fort for the pupils. The girls hos­tel is go­ing to ac­com­mo­date 240 girls.”

Asked his ex­pec­ta­tions from the stu­dents af­ter such huge in­vest­ment in the school, Adeni­ran said, “they know why they are here. The only way they can ap­pre­ci­ate our ef­forts is to en­sure that they do well in their stud­ies and also im­bibe the char­ac­ter we hope to im­part in them so that the school will be bet­ter and the na­tion will be bet­ter.”
