Gun­men abduct two on Iwo-ibadan road

TWO per­sons, whose iden­ti­ties could not be im­me­di­ately as­cer­tained, were on Mon­day ab­ducted by gun­men at the Alamo vil­lage, Olaoluwa Lo­cal Govern­ment Area of Osun State.

Ac­cord­ing to sources in the area, the vic­tims were head­ing for Iwo in Osun State from Ibadan, Oyo State, when they were ab­ducted.

The in­ci­dent, it was gath­ered, oc­curred around 11.15pm when the ve­hi­cle con­vey­ing the vic­tims was at­tacked by the gun­men.

The Oluwo of Iwo, Oba Ab­dul­rosheed Akanbi, in a chat with our cor­re­spon­dent, said his lo­cal govern­ment chair­man in­formed him of the in­ci­dent.

he stated that ef­forts were on to res­cue the vic­tims un­hurt.

The monarch said, “The chair­man of my lo­cal govern­ment in­formed me about the in­ci­dent last night. We have de­ployed men to the scene of the crime.

“We are work­ing to res­cue the ab­ducted vic­tims un­hurt.”

When con­tacted, the Po­lice Pub­lic Re­la­tions Of­fi­cer in the state, Fo­lasade Odoro, said the Com­mis­sioner of Po­lice, John­son Kokumo, had vis­ited the scene.

She said po­lice per­son­nel had been de­ployed in the area to en­sure the res­cue of the vic­tims.

Odoro stated, “The Com­mis­sioner of Po­lice, John­son Kokumo, is per­son­ally co­or­di­nat­ing the res­cue op­er­a­tion.

“he was at the scene to­day (Tues­day) and op­er­a­tives are comb­ing the area to en­sure that those ab­ducted are res­cued.”
