Gunmen abduct, kill Adamawa journalist
UNKNOWN men on Tuesday killed a Yola journalist working with the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria after allegedly abducting him from his home.
Maxwell Nashon’s corpse was recovered behind the perimeter fence of the broadcasting station.
It was learnt that Nashon had his hands bound. He also allegedly suffered a machete cut.
A source said, “Our colleague was killed by unknown men, who took him out from his residence, bound his hands, took a machete and struck him and dumped his corpse behind Fombina (FRCN Yola fence). His corpse was found by some women going to farm this morning (Tuesday).”
He said the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps removed the body after the women raised the alarm.
The Secretary of the Adamawa State chapter of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, Fedelis Jockhan, said they had contacted the FRCN over the incident.
Jockthan called on the state government to probe the death of the journalist and ensure that his killers were apprehended.
He said, “we condemn the brutal killing of our colleague and we call on the government to step in and unravel his killers. This was a young man with a promising future gruesomely killed by unidentified persons.”
