Gun­men abduct, kill Adamawa jour­nal­ist

UN­KNOWN men on Tues­day killed a Yola jour­nal­ist work­ing with the Fed­eral Ra­dio Cor­po­ra­tion of Nige­ria af­ter al­legedly ab­duct­ing him from his home.

Maxwell Nashon’s corpse was re­cov­ered be­hind the perime­ter fence of the broad­cast­ing sta­tion.

It was learnt that Nashon had his hands bound. He also al­legedly suf­fered a machete cut.

A source said, “Our col­league was killed by un­known men, who took him out from his res­i­dence, bound his hands, took a machete and struck him and dumped his corpse be­hind Fom­bina (FRCN Yola fence). His corpse was found by some women go­ing to farm this morn­ing (Tues­day).”

He said the Nige­ria Se­cu­rity and Civil De­fence Corps re­moved the body af­ter the women raised the alarm.

The Sec­re­tary of the Adamawa State chap­ter of the Nige­ria Union of Jour­nal­ists, Fedelis Jock­han, said they had con­tacted the FRCN over the incident.

Jock­than called on the state gov­ern­ment to probe the death of the jour­nal­ist and en­sure that his killers were ap­pre­hended.

He said, “we con­demn the bru­tal killing of our col­league and we call on the gov­ern­ment to step in and un­ravel his killers. This was a young man with a promis­ing fu­ture grue­somely killed by uniden­ti­fied per­sons.”
