Eight killed, 17 injured in Niger crash
THe Federal Road Safety Corps, Niger State Command, on Wednesday confirmed the killing of eight people in an auto crash along kagara-birnin Gwari Road in the Rafi Local Government Area of the state, the News Agency of Nigeria reports.
The state FRSC Sector Commander, Joel Dagwa, said the accident occurred on Tuesday, adding that it involved a truck loaded with 46 people, 37 cows and 10 goats without a number plate.
He said 46 people were involved in the crash, but that eight died, while 17 sustained varying degrees of injury and were rushed to the Cottage Hospital, kagara, for treatment.
He said, “we also deposited the corpses at the kagara Cottage Hospital.”
He blamed the incident on fatigue and overloading.
Dagwa said they would continue to tell road users to avoid dangerous driving.
