NFF sets up nor­mal­i­sa­tion com­mit­tee in Delta

The nige­ria Foot­ball Fed­er­a­tion has set up a nor­mal­i­sa­tion com­mit­tee to ad­min­is­ter the af­fairs of the Delta State Foot­ball As­so­ci­a­tion for the next three months.

In a let­ter signed by joshua Onoja on be­half of the NFF Gen­eral Sec­re­tary Mo­hammed Sanusi, which was ad­dressed to the Delta FA on Wed­nes­day, the com­mit­tee is ex­pected to put in place pro­cesses for elec­tions into the coun­cils and board of the FA.

“It is my in­struc­tion to in­form that the NFF re­quested the 36 foot­ball as­so­ci­a­tions, in­clud­ing FCT, to com­mence process for elec­tions into the state foot­ball as­so­ci­a­tions’ ex­ec­u­tive board be­tween April and june 2019, fol­low­ing the ex­pi­ra­tion of the tenures of the var­i­ous state foot­ball as­so­ci­a­tions boards.

“Fur­ther­ance to the above, the Delta State Foot­ball As­so­ci­a­tion Ex­ec­u­tive Board and all foot­ball stake­hold­ers in Delta State held a meet­ing with the NFF Chair­man of Chair­men, on Fe­bru­ary 28, 2019 at the Patrick Okpomo Foot­ball House, As­aba, Delta State, fol­low­ing the series of crises be­tween the state foot­ball as­so­ci­a­tions’ ex­ec­u­tive board mem­bers, to chart a way for­ward for smooth con­duct of elec­tions into the state foot­ball as­so­ci­a­tion’s ex­ec­u­tive board

“It was agreed that the ex­ec­u­tive board should be­gin the pro­cesses of elect­ing the state local foot­ball coun­cils del­e­gates that will form the congress, with other mem­bers for the state FA’S ex­ec­u­tive board elec­tions.

“In view of the in­abil­ity of the (Delta) State Foot­ball As­so­ci­a­tion Ex­ec­u­tive Board to con­duct the said elec­tions, con­sid­er­ing the series of cor­re­spon­dences be­tween the State Foot­ball As­so­ci­a­tion and NFF, the fact that the ten­ure of the State Ex­ec­u­tive Board has ex­pired, and fol­low­ing the pro­vi­sion of Art. 8.2, 14(1)(a) of FIFA Statutes, 2019, the nige­ria Foot­ball Fed­er­a­tion do hereby con­sti­tute a nor­mal­i­sa­tion Com­mit­tee for Delta State Foot­ball As­so­ci­a­tion.

The nor­mal­i­sa­tion Com­mit­tee will ad­min­is­ter foot­ball ac­tiv­i­ties and also put in place pro­cesses for elec­tions into the Local Foot­ball Coun­cils and the Ex­ec­u­tive Board of Delta State within the pe­riod of Three months, ef­fec­tive from 16th jan­uary, 2020 to 15 April, 2020,” the let­ter said.

Mem­bers of the com­mit­tee are

Henry nkeki, who will serve as chair­man; Emma nuhu; Mitchel Amami and Azuka Ogosi.

The move comes af­ter al­le­ga­tions by the Chair­man of the Delta State FA, Edema Fu­ludu, of plans by the NFF to kick him out and con­duct an elec­tion into the FA less than a year af­ter he got into of­fice.

Ac­cord­ing to Fu­ludu, the plans were to re­move him from of­fice and im­pose the state’s sports com­mis­sion chair­man Tony Okowa as the new FA boss.

Fu­ludu, who was elected as Delta FA boss in july 2019, promised to re­sist such moves, say­ing he would take all pos­si­ble le­gal steps to pro­tect his man­date.
