The Punch

Editor’s note

Having interviewed and interacted with several notable and accomplished personalities over the years, I have come to learn that success is never achieved by accident. It is usually as a result of intentional and consistent efforts. Our cover personality for the week, Comfort Eyitayo, who is the 57th president of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria, echoed this thought as she emphasised that success is never achieved on a silver platter. In an interview on pages 17, 20 and 29, she spoke succinctly about her career, experience at ICAN, gender discrimination and other issues.

Many businesses don’t survive beyond the first five years and that is partly because their owners failed to carry out proper research and planning before setting them up. On page 19, you will find an article that explains the importance of having a business plan.

Actor, Jim Iyke, has come a long way in his career and evidently, he has learnt a lot of lessons along the way. In an interview with our correspondent, the role interpreter, who is referred to by some as ‘Nollywood bad boy’, admitted that not behaving with decorum in the past earned him a bad reputation. Please, turn to pages 22 and 27 for the story.
