Raheem Sterling england

Sterling emerged as England’s star man and the player of Euro 2020, scoring England’s first three goals at Euro 2020. In fact, no English player has scored more goals from open play than the Manchester City forward in the squad’s last three major tournaments.

Despite having had a season to forget with the Citizens, the 25-year-old star was the shining light of The Three Lions at the tournament helping Gareth Southgate’s side to their first final in 55 years.

He had a hand in England’s first goal before he went down inside the box in extra time, to hand his side a penalty, which Harry Kane converted in the semi-final 2-1 win over Denmark.

Yann Sommer - Switzerland

While Steven Zuber was creating the goals at one end for Switzerland, Sommer was holding down the fort at the other.

Zuber had four assists for the Swiss in as many games at the tournament, but Borussia Monchengladbach shot-stopper Sommer made the most saves at Euro 2020 with 21 across five matches – and that doesn’t include two more in shootouts.

He was Switzerland’s hero in the last 16 – only days after he’d briefly left the squad to attend the birth of his child – when he saved Kylian Mbappe’s decisive penalty after a thrilling 3-3 draw in which he’d also made five stops.

Patrik Schick - czech Republic

Without a doubt, the breakout star of this Euro 2020 tournament is Bayer Leverkusen striker Schick.

The Czech striker has five goals, same as Cristiano Ronaldo, to emerge the leading scorers, although the Portuguese superstar leads courtesy of his assist, in the race for the Golden Boot.

Of his five goals, three were with his left foot, one with his right and one with his head. Only one of those – in the 1-1 group draw with Croatia – came from the penalty spot. That’s compared to three for Ronaldo, whose two from open play were scored with his left foot.

cristiano Ronaldo - Portugal

Ronaldo’s name has become synonymous with records and the Portuguese captain broke many at this tourney, becoming the first player to appear in five finals.

His five goals same n four games at this year’s event brought his total all-time tally to 14, making him the championship’s highest scorer ever.

The 36-year-old scored five goals in four games before Portugal were knocked out by Belgium. Three of Ronaldo’s five goals at Euro 2020 came from the spot. His penalty and a sublime finish from open play put the gloss on Portugal’s opening 3-0 win against Hungary, before two further penalties sealed a 2-2 draw with France that ensured the defending champions progressed to the knockout phase. Before then, however, was a stunning effort in the 4-2 loss against Germany: the superstar sprinted the length of the pitch to round off a rapid counter-attack.

emil Forsberg - Sweden

Despite being deployed at the left side of midfield at the Euros, Forsberg flourished at the tournament, scoring four of Sweden’s five goals on their way to the round of 16.

He is in the top five for attempts on goal with 14, while all four shots on target went in.

Forsberg is the first Swedish player to score four times at a single Euro and also netted in three straight games, equaling Tomas Brolin’s record at the tournament. His first in the group game against Poland was also the second-fastest ever recorded at the Euros (1:22) – knocking long-time Leipzig teammate Yussuf Poulsen down to third by some 17 seconds.
